Frequently Asked Questions - Laura Butler
How long will the consultation take?
The initial meeting takes about an hour.
Do I need to bring anything?
If you have had any recent testing done, a copy of the results of these tests can often be very useful.
A list of any medications you are taking and the dose. As well as any supplements, the brand and name of the particular supplement.
Also if you are wishing to see me in regards to any mental health concerns, I often use a specific questionnaire in these situations. Having this questionnaire filled out before the consultation can often result in the initial meeting being as effective as possible. If you think this applies to you, send me an email (laura@utopia.net.au ) and I can email the questionnaire through to you.
How often will I need to see you?
This does tend to vary from patient to patient depending on the treatment goals; this is best discussed at the end of the first consultation. The majority of the time the 2nd consultation will be in 2-3 weeks from the first meeting. Then I tend to see clients every 4-6weeks, until our treatment goals are reached. Again these are just rough guidelines as I prefer to make the follow up times based on what is best suited for each individual patient.
How long will I have to wait to see results?
This too varies depending on what the patient is seeing me for. Generally the longer a symptom has been around, the longer the treatment. However, my aim is for you to notice some change within the first few weeks of treatment.
What if I am not sure if a Naturopath can help me?
The best thing to do in this situation is to send me an email (laura@utopia.net.au) and ask me any questions you may have. I will reply to let you know if I your particular condition is an area that I can help with. If not, I can also offer a referral to someone better suited.
Can I see a Naturopath if also seeing a doctor?
Absolutely yes. My philosophy is to integrate Naturopathic Healing Principles with the most up to date scientific research. This means that I am happy to work in with the treatment your GP has recommended. If the situation calls for it, I will correspond with your GP to inform them what treatment protocol I am providing. There are GP’s in the local area that have been impressed with the treatment outcomes that I have provided for my patients.
